Career Highlights

Before joining the faculty at Cedar Crest, Dr. Scepansky taught for one year at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, and for six years at Longwood University in Virginia. Dr. Scepansky has also served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.

Courses Taught

Dr. Scepansky teaches several classes, including General Psychology, Experimental Design and Statistics, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, as well as the capstone experience, Psychology Research (Thesis I and II).

Research Interests

Research interests are eclectic, and include impression formation, motivated skepticism, attitudes and persuasion, and social memory. Dr. Scepansky welcomes the opportunity to work with students on research projects in their own areas of interest.

Sara Lauren Purifoy is Library Director of Cressman Library and specializes in the creation and management of literacy programs for students and adults.

Sara oversees the vision for the Library’s collection and educational services, valuing equity, empowerment, and expanded access in student learning for research abilities and information literacy.

Prior to Cressman Library, Sara supervised patron information services and a robust schedule of literacy programs and classes for the Easton community as the Adult Services Coordinator at Easton Area Public Library.

Sara was also previously the Instructional Services Librarian at Taylor Memorial Library, Centenary University, where she managed the Information Literacy Program and worked with faculty and students to help guide learners in searching databases, using information technologies, and cultivating life-long learning habits. In her last six months at Centenary, she held the position of Interim Co-Director.

Sara has additional experience at a range of organizations within the field of librarianship including Westminster College, Duquesne University, Cranberry Public Library, Cleveland Law Library, Allegheny County Jail, and the Carnegie Museum of Art. She presented at the NJAL Conference (VALE) on her work with instructional assessment and outreach in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English from Gettysburg College and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

She likes birds, cashew cheese, and speculative fiction.

Biography

Dr. Dianne Babbitt is the Chairperson of the Health Sciences Department and the Graduate Program Director for Integrative Exercise Science. Her research interests are in cardiovascular exercise physiology, specifically the effect of exercise training on cardiovascular disease risk factors. Dr. Babbitt’s research in the Exercise Physiology Laboratory at Cedar Crest has included accurate assessment of cardiovascular physiological function with cycle ergometry. She and her students have presented these research findings at the American College of Sports Medicine Regional and National Meetings. Dr. Babbitt is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist. She teaches and advises undergraduate students in the Health Sciences and graduate students in Exercise Science. As a teacher, it is her desire to empower students to achieve their highest levels of personal and professional development.

Robert A. Wilson is Provost for Ģý. As Chief Academic Officer, he provides leadership for the Academic Affairs division, including all academic departments and instructional programs, academic services, the registrar’s office, information technology, Cressman Library, institutional effectiveness and research, and global initiatives and international programs.

With a commitment to inclusive excellence, equity, and expanded access to higher education, Dr. Wilson has a passion for ensuring that college enables all students to achieve at their highest levels. 

Dr. Wilson serves as co-chair of Cedar Crest’s 2017-2021 strategic plan, “The Aspiration of Others.” He also oversees the periodic review and planning process for all academic programs and college offices, the college internationalization process, the bias response team, and all academic judicial cases.

Dr. Wilson cooperatively leads the Diversity and Inclusion Council. He furthermore coordinates specialized accreditation for the college’s degree programs, directs compliance with federal and state regulations for higher education. 

As Associate Provost, Dr. Wilson has led faculty workshops on topics such as diversity and inclusion, integrative curriculum development and revision, the assessment of academic programs, classroom engagement, and general-education knowledge and skills. A practiced teacher of online courses, he is a Quality Matters certified course reviewer.

Dr. Wilson was the co-founder of Cedar Crest’s Pan-European MFA in Creative Writing, a low-residency writing program with students enrolled across seven different time zones who come together for residencies in Dublin, Barcelona, and Vienna. He has been President of Faculty Council, Chair of the Curriculum and Academic Policy Committee, Chair of the Department of Humanities, Director of Writing, and a leader for institution-wide Academic Program Review. A faculty member since 2002, he teaches courses in literature, writing, and film studies.

Dr. Wilson is Treasurer for the Pennsylvania College English Association, where he has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2010. He maintains active membership in scholarly and academic organizations that include the Association of American Colleges & Universities, the Modern Language Association, and the Nathaniel Hawthorne Society.

Wilson earned his doctorate of philosophy in English from Lehigh University, receiving the 2006 Stout distinguished dissertation prize. He holds a master of arts in literature (2000) and a bachelor of arts in English, history, and pre-law (1998) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he has a certificate in Education Policy and Program Evaluation from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies (2015).
